AWARDS
Congratulations to SDA member Jappie King Black, who has been named one of the 2009 recipients of a NYFA grant. Below are samples of the work that have earned her this highly competitive and distinguished grant award.
Collection 2009 is a mixed media installation, approximately 12' x 30' x 4'. It was made using various techniques: coiling, crochet, twining and wrapping of grapevine, bark, fiber, wood, wire, wax and quills.
Three Figures is a grapevine and bark sculpture approximately 6' x 7' x 8'. It was part of Evolution 20 @ 10 at the Arts Guild of Rahway, Rahway, New Jersey.
Jappie lives in Brockport, New York and teaches during the school year at Kean University in Union, New Jersey.
EXHIBITION NEWS
An exhibition of Larry Schulte’s paper-weave paintings and prints, "Weaving Cosmic Reality into Art" is on display at Bayer Healthcare in Montville, NJ and Wayne, NJ from July 9 – November 4, 2009.
