"Lotus Shoe: Grandmother Chen" by Joan Pao.
SDA member Joan Pao's "Lotus Shoe:Grandmother Chen" will be part of the "Perfect Fit: Shoes Tell Stories" exhibit at Fuller Craft Museum, 455 Oak Street, Brockton, MA, June 6,2009 - January 3, 2010. Opening reception Sunday, June 14, 2009, 2-5 PM.
Joan constructed this shoe in memory of her paternal grandmother. She also made a "Lotus Shoe: Grandmother Wong" for her maternal grandmother as well. Both grandmothers had their feet bound. To recreate the shoes they wore, Joan used polyester curtain fabric with straight pins.
Larry Schulte's exhibit of woven painted paper at the Lobby Gallery of 499 Park Avenue, NYC, has been extended through June 30, 2009.

EXHIBITION NEWS
River Notes by Judith Plotner
Four new fiber works by Judith Plotner, Gloversville, will be in juried exhibitions around the country. "River Notes", one of two pieces inspired by a kayaking trip in the Adirondacks, will be included in Images 2009 at the Robeson Gallery at Pennsylvania State University from June 10-July 12, 2009, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Arts Festival.
Another piece from this series, "Notes on a Stream," will be in Quilt National at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio, opening May 22 - September 7. The show will then travel for two years. For a list of venues please go to the Quilt National website.
Judy will also have two pieces in the upcoming show, "Musings", at the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, MI this summer.
Jeanne Beck's "Parables 3" will be on display at "The Quilted Surface V", May 18 - June 20, 2009, at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center, 139 W Main Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
