DYENAMIX LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE FOR ITS HOME COLLECTION
President Raylene Masarco of Dyenamix Inc. reports that the company's home collection has been growing and it was time to separate the service end of her business from Dyenamix as a brand. In addition to their two existing showrooms, the company has recently acquired a west coast showroom called Sloan Miyasato, which is located in the San Francisco Design Center Showplace.
At the beginning of February, Raylene participated in "Design San Francisco:, a design conference geared toward architects and interior designers. The presentation was met with great enthusiasm from the audience, who realized they were able to customize our patterns to suit their client needs. The new website allows the designers a glimpse at the applications of our patterns in "room vignettes" or provides an overview of the entire line in "collection."
Please view DYNAMIX' new website --- (http:www.DYENAMIXHOME.com) -- and pass it along to any designers that you feel would benefit from the collection.

Exhibition News
Elaine Longtemp's piece "Adieu Ma Bonne Amie", 14"h x 22" W x 14.5", has been juried into and awarded Honorable Mention in the 23rd Annual Juried Show, 2009, presented at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. The show runs February 13 - March 27, 2009; an opening reception will be held Feb. 13, 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
The two-part piece was created in memory of a dear friend, Sherry Miller, who died of breast cancer in 2007. During Sherry's five year battle with cancer, Elaine hung one part of the piece in her studio, where it was protected, and one part outside, where it battled the elements as Sherry battled her illness. After she died, Elaine took the outside piece down and made it into "An Unexpected Turn." Then she dismantled the second piece and created "Adieu Ma Bonne Amie", which is French for "Farewell My Good Friend.
Julie Branch has a piece in "A Common Thread 2009", Annual Textile Center Members Exhibition at the Textile Center, Minneapolis, MN, January 16 - February 21, 2009.
Berenice Pliskin invites you to a solo exhibit of her silk paintings in Pound Ridge, NY. She would be happy to arrange a guided tour of the exhibition for SDA members; please write her at silk.art@verizon.net if you are interested.
Panel Discussion at Phoenix Gallery
Need, Demand, Desire: Reevaluating the Artists' Artifact, will be presented at the Phoenix Gallery, 210 Eleventh Avenue @ 25th St, Suite 902, New York, NY on February 19th at 7:00 PM in conjunction with the show Fluidity and Fragments featuring the work of Joan Harmon, Pat Hickman and Barbara Yontz.
Panel members Janet Thormann, Jeanne Gerrity and Jill Magi will examine a question: what is the artists' role and the artifact produced in the current commodity market? Need, Demand, Desire: Reevaluating the Artists'Artifact will bring together a theorist, curator, poet, video artist and architect to discuss the complex role of the artists' artifact in a culture geared towards consumerism. What makes the art object different from a Pottery Barn couch, a commercial jingle or a well-crafted phrase?
